Visual identity for our wedding. Coming soon.

Overview
I like the look of traditional wedding stationery design. The calligraphy. The stately serif typefaces. But for our wedding, I wanted something more relaxed to match our style and personalities.
My father-in-law's jazz band was to perform at the wedding. So I looked at classic jazz album covers for inspiration.
The result was an identity built on bold, expressive typography and a colour palette borrowed from the City of Helsinki.
Full details coming soon.

Some of the album covers that inspired me.

Invitation card. A repurposed springtime selfie from a Parisian bar used on the front. It provided a dash of attitude and nice framing for the type. My fiancée (now wife) insisted on using a heart icon as a full-stop to have something "cute" on the card. Sigh.

The URL on the card pointed to a website where guests could find more information and RSVP. I customised a Squarespace template to create the site.

The cover of an A5 booklet waiting for guests on the pews in church.

Inside, a preview of the day's events and the song booklet.

The evening reception took place in Suomenlinna, a sea fortress in the archipelago of Helsinki. One of the landmark buildings is a church which also serves as a lighthouse.

We partied in Tenalji von Fersen, the old granary of the fortress bakery.
