Tropical
Poster design
Poster design in the style of Swiss designer Joseph Müller-Brockmann
Overview
This was an entry for a one-word prompt ('tropical') by Blank Poster. I used a 1958 poster by Swiss designer Joseph Müller-Brockmann as inspiration.
The first step was to deconstruct the layout grid of the original. It's based on a seried of circles sized in relation to each other based on the golden ratio.

1. Start with a circle whose diameter equals the height of the page.
2. To size next circle, divide the height of page twice by the 'golden ratio'.
3. Divide again twice by the golden ratio.
4. Keep following the pattern.
5. Draw equal margins around the page based on the second circle.
6. For the text area, divide half of the page height twice by the 'golden ratio'.

For the remixed version, I created a nocturnal ocean scene with a cocktail in the foreground. I used the zig zag effect and the blend tool in Illustrator to create the water.
