Brand and marketing design for an online therapy provider

Overview

My Online Therapy is a virtual clinic supporting people with their mental health. Through the app, people can speak with highly qualified psychologists via video or text-based chat. The company also offers audio courses on topics such as anxiety and depression.

My role was to bring all B2B/B2C design work in-house and refine the visual identity.

Brighter colours and simplified typography

I leaned into the conventions of clinical healthcare branding with a simplified and sanitised colour palette. The proportions favour shades of blue, cool neutrals, and plenty of bright white. Shades of pink bring back warmth and link the palette back to the gradient in the logo.

I phased out the script font and focused on the existing sans-serif Galano Classic Alt as an all-purpose font-family.

Photography

The human element comes to the forefront with close-up portrait photography. The shadows are shades of blue as opposed to pure black, giving the imagery a slight lift. The subjects combined with a cool-toned and textured look help to capture the personal and sensitive nature of mental health issues.

Social media

A sampling of social media designs.

Email

Email header images served as frames for close-up portrait photography.

Web design

I worked with freelance web developers to redesign several pages across the site.

Redesigning client profile pages

The product team was working on redesigning client profile pages where therapists can:

  • track their clients’ therapy status (active/inactive/# of sessions completed)
  • manage their appointments
  • save and review session notes
  • monitor their clients’ risk level
  • view emergency contact details
  • review and monitor their clients’ insurance coverage, payments, and payment details

These actions and information were split into panels arranged into columns on the page.

I stepped in to support towards the end of the project with several flows and interactions left to design. (Due to financial circumstances, the product team had disintegrated.) My role was to design the interactions and the flows from the profile page to other pages on the therapist platform. I did this in Figma, where I displayed static designs for every action and panel on mobile and desktop, as well as interactive prototypes to maximise clarity for the developers.
